ActorLoom ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use the ActorLoom mobile application and website.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account with ActorLoom, we collect:

  • Email address: Used for account authentication and communication
  • Display name: A name you choose that is visible to other users when you save weaves

Weave Data

When you save a weave, we store:

  • The actors and movies included in your weave
  • The order of actors and movies in your weave
  • Your display name (associated with the weave)
  • The date and time the weave was created

Anonymous Usage Data

We collect anonymous usage analytics to improve the app, including:

  • App usage patterns (screens viewed, features used)
  • Performance data (app crashes, errors, load times)
  • Device and operating system information

This data is collected anonymously and cannot be linked to your individual account.

Data Not Collected

If you use ActorLoom without creating an account:

  • We do not collect any personal information
  • Weaves you build are stored locally on your device only
  • Anonymous usage analytics are still collected as described above

How We Use Your Information

Account Management

We use your email address and display name to:

  • Authenticate your account
  • Display your display name on weaves you save
  • Send important account-related notifications (if necessary)

Weave Persistence

We store your saved weaves so you can:

  • Access your weaves from any device
  • Share your weaves with other users
  • View your saved weaves in the app

App Improvement

We use anonymous analytics data to:

  • Monitor app performance and stability
  • Identify and fix bugs
  • Understand how users interact with the app
  • Improve features and user experience

Third-Party Services

ActorLoom uses the following third-party services:

Auth0

Purpose: Authentication and account management
Data Shared: Email address, display name

Microsoft Azure

Purpose: Cloud hosting and data storage
Data Shared: All data collected by ActorLoom is stored on Azure servers in Azure Cosmos DB databases

Microsoft Azure Application Insights

Purpose: Anonymous usage analytics and error tracking
Data Shared: Anonymous usage patterns, performance metrics, error logs

The Movie Database (TMDb)

Purpose: Movie and actor data source
Data Shared: No user data is shared with TMDb. All requests to TMDb are made through our servers, not directly from the app.

Data Retention

Account Data

Your account data (email address and display name) is retained until you delete your account. You can delete your account at any time through the app's Settings screen.

Weave Data

Saved weaves persist after account deletion. Weaves are immutable records and do not contain personally identifiable information after your account is deleted (they only contain your display name and an internal user ID).

Usage Analytics

Anonymous usage analytics are retained for 30 days in accordance with Azure Application Insights' default retention policy.

Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your data:

  • Access: You can access your account data and saved weaves through the app
  • Deletion: You can delete your account at any time via the Settings screen in the app
  • Data Portability: Contact us at support@actorloom.com to request a copy of your data

Children's Privacy

ActorLoom is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately at support@actorloom.com.

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:

  • All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections
  • Passwords are managed by Auth0 and are never stored by ActorLoom
  • Data is stored in secure Azure data centers with access controls
  • API keys and secrets are stored in Azure Key Vault

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date and, if appropriate, providing in-app notification.
