What is ActorLoom?

ActorLoom is a mobile app that helps you discover connections between actors through the movies they've starred in together. You can search for actors, browse their filmographies, and create "weaves" - curated collections of actors and movies that show how they connect to each other.

How do I create a weave?

To create a weave:

1. Search for an actor using the search screen
2. Select the actor to add them to your weave
3. Pick a movie from their filmography
4. The app will show actors who appeared in that movie
5. Select another actor to continue building your weave
6. Repeat until you have up to 6 actors
7. Tap the save button to save your weave (requires an account)

Do I need an account to use ActorLoom?

No, you can build weaves without creating an account. However, to save weaves and view your saved weaves later, you'll need to create a free account. Anonymous weaves are stored locally on your device only and will be lost if you uninstall the app.

How many actors can I add to a weave?

You can add up to 6 actors to a single weave. Each weave will have one fewer movie than the number of actors (for example, a 6-actor weave has 5 movies connecting them).

Can I edit a saved weave?

No, saved weaves are immutable. Once you save a weave, it cannot be edited or modified. If you want to create a different version, you can build a new weave from scratch.

How do I delete my account?

To delete your account:

1. Open the ActorLoom app
2. Go to the Settings screen (tap the settings icon)
3. Scroll down and tap "Delete Account"
4. Confirm the deletion

Note: This action is permanent. Your email address and display name will be deleted, but weaves you've saved will remain in the system (without your personal information).

Where does the movie and actor data come from?

All movie and actor data is provided by The Movie Database (TMDb), a community-built database with information on hundreds of thousands of movies and actors. ActorLoom uses the TMDb API to fetch this data, but is not affiliated with, endorsed, or certified by TMDb.

Why is an actor or movie missing?

ActorLoom's data comes from TMDb. If an actor or movie is missing or incomplete, it may not be in the TMDb database yet. You can contribute to TMDb by creating a free account at themoviedb.org and adding missing information.

How do I report a bug or issue?

If you encounter a bug, crash, or other technical issue, please email us at support@actorloom.com with:

• A description of the issue
• Steps to reproduce the problem (if applicable)
• Your device model and operating system version
• Screenshots (if helpful)

Is ActorLoom available on Android and iOS?

Yes, ActorLoom is available for both iOS (App Store) and Android (Google Play). Download links are available on the ActorLoom homepage.

How much does ActorLoom cost?

ActorLoom is completely free to download and use. There are no in-app purchases, subscriptions, or ads.

How is my data used?

We take your privacy seriously. ActorLoom collects minimal data (email, display name, saved weaves) and uses anonymous analytics to improve the app. For full details, please read our Privacy Policy.
