Terms of Service

Welcome to ActorLoom. By using the ActorLoom mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using ActorLoom, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Wax Robots ("we," "us," or "our").

2. Description of Service

ActorLoom is a movie and actor discovery application that allows users to:

  • Search for actors and browse their filmographies
  • Create curated collections of actors and movies called "weaves"
  • Save weaves to their account for future access
  • View weaves created by other users
  • Discover connections between actors through shared movie credits

All movie and actor data is provided by The Movie Database (TMDb). ActorLoom is not affiliated with, endorsed, or certified by TMDb.

3. User Accounts

Account Creation

To save weaves and access saved content, you must create an account. You are responsible for:

  • Providing accurate information during account creation
  • Maintaining the security of your account credentials
  • All activities that occur under your account
  • Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account

Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time through the Settings screen in the app. Upon account deletion:

  • Your email address and display name will be permanently removed
  • Your saved weaves will remain in the system but will no longer be linked to your account
  • You will lose access to your saved weaves

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. User Content and Weaves

Ownership

You retain ownership of the weaves you create. By saving a weave, you grant ActorLoom a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to:

  • Store and display your weaves within the Service
  • Make your weaves visible to other ActorLoom users
  • Display your chosen display name alongside your weaves

Immutability

Saved weaves are immutable. Once you save a weave, it cannot be edited or modified. You may delete your account, but weaves will persist as orphaned content (without your personal information).

TMDb Content

All movie and actor data displayed in ActorLoom is owned by The Movie Database (TMDb) and used under the TMDb API Terms of Use. You acknowledge that:

  • TMDb data is provided for personal, non-commercial use
  • You do not have any rights to TMDb's content
  • TMDb content is subject to change or removal at any time

5. Prohibited Uses

You agree NOT to:

  • Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems
  • Use automated tools (bots, scrapers, etc.) to access the Service
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app
  • Use offensive, abusive, or inappropriate display names
  • Impersonate another person or entity
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its servers
  • Use the Service for commercial purposes without our written permission
  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
  • Warranties that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
  • Warranties regarding the accuracy or completeness of TMDb data

We do not guarantee that:

  • The Service will meet your specific requirements
  • The Service will be available at all times
  • Any errors or defects will be corrected
  • TMDb data will be current, complete, or accurate

7. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WAX ROBOTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM:

  • Your use of or inability to use the Service
  • Any unauthorized access to or use of your account
  • Any interruption or cessation of the Service
  • Any bugs, viruses, or other harmful code transmitted through the Service
  • Any errors or omissions in any content or data
  • The deletion or loss of any weaves or account data

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Wax Robots, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising out of or in any way connected with:

  • Your use of the Service
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any third-party rights
  • Any weaves you create or save

9. Changes to the Service

We reserve the right to:

  • Modify or discontinue the Service (or any part of it) at any time
  • Change features, functionality, or pricing
  • Impose limits on certain features or restrict access to parts of the Service

We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of material changes, but are not obligated to do so.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by:

  • Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
  • Providing in-app notification (for significant changes)

Your continued use of the Service after changes to the Terms constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

12. Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association. You agree to waive any right to a jury trial or to participate in a class action lawsuit.

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that the Terms will otherwise remain in full force and effect.
